Potential Spoilers!!!!Excellent story that I enjoyed very much. I gave it 5 stars because it was an engrossing plot with characters I loved and hated. I hated Alex all the way through the end. But I can't blame the author because I could see through Alex and I understood what Whitely was feeling.
The only reason why I am writing this review is because I hope the author reads this. Alex was not redeemed. I think the way he confessed at the end was far too late to be redeemed. He manipulated and manipulated and didn't stop until he had distanced Whitely from her entire support system and then he manipulated her even more because he capitalized on her sex drive, her lust, and her loneliness. The epilogue made me hate Alex even more, nothing but rationalizations and excuses. As if his anger that he'd been kept from his daughter made it okay for him to fabricate proof that Whitely was an unfit mother? Not once did he admit that he had no right to manipulate her.
This being a romance I knew of course Whitely would end up with Alex in a happy ever after or a happy for now ending so I wondered what could Alex do to redeem himself. As soon as he had won her love, he should have confessed out in the open all the horrible things he had done to her. In fact, I kept waiting for it. I expected it because it was the ONLY way he could redeem himself. He had to come to that decision on his own, without being forced into by circumstances. But that's not how his story was told and so I ended this book with a very sour taste in my mouth.
Whitely had some guilt in her dis function too. She avoided confrontation through out the book. Had she been strong enough to confront the truth with her father when Alex reappeared, .... I was hoping that Whitely's character could grow as a result of seeing and experiencing what happens when ugly and uncomfortable truths are avoided. I think the author missed out on several opportunities for Whitely to grow. But she remained avoidant till the very end.
It's kind of sad when two highly flawed characters end up in such a happy situation through avoidance, manipulation and guilt.

OMG. This is hands down one of my favorite books.
It's mind twisting, It makes you laugh, cry, and want
to scream. You hat and fall in love. I couldn't out it
down until is was done. Thank you Jettie. You out did
yourself.
Yeah I didn't like Alex Wesson for what he did to Whitney and I wouldn't of been able to forgive him . I tried to like him but it just didn't happen .
I have read couple of books by Jettie Woodruff and I thought I should read this book as well. To my opinion I felt Whitley was not a responsible mother with the drinking habit and sleeping with two men. The story was okay though.
One of my all time favorites....."I feed a fish" will forever be a part of my vocabulary thanks to Jettie Woodruff and her wild imagination. However, the thing about her writing is...it's totally possible. It's not some far fetched fairy tale like so many of these books have become.
It's different and I freaking loved every second of it. So much so that I messaged her and asked for a follow up. I am still begging but she says she's done with Maddie's story (
You will want to throw your reader and slap some sense into some of these characters.....so don't say I didn't warn you !!! Enjoy the ride and hold on tight!
Well what can I say yet another fantastic book by Jettie. I love her writing style!! This book may offend some people but really things happen in life and I thought this book was very good! Yes there were times I wanted to scream and pull my hair out literally but I continued on because I had to see how it ended!! This book is about a girl named Whitley and guy named Alex. Yes I hated Alex for 85% of the book until you started to understand why Alex did what he did. I loved how Whitley fought him tooth and nail but gave into him every single time because even though she wanted to hate Alex she couldn't. OMG MADDIE is the cutest kid ever!!! She made this book with her cute little talking. Yes this book will make you mad and want to throw your kindle but it will also make you love all the characters just the same. Don't miss out on this beautiful book!!! GET IT NOW!
Okay, first of all I want to say poor Maddie. She had two unfit parents. Her mother is an alcoholic and her father is a crazed lunatic. I gave this book three stars because I was entertained, but it is a very sad story of lies and manipulation. This book shows that if you tell one lie, it leads to another then you tell two lies to cover each other, then 3 lies and ole brother, you are in trouble up to your ears.
Whitley is a liar on another level. She lied so much, she almost never told the truth. Whitley was raped when she was 17 and she didn't tell anyone. 3 years later she has a 3 year old daughter and living the life of a single mother on a compound of sorts with her father and step mother. Until she runs into her rapist, and he realizes that her child is his. Alex is incredibly manipulative. Things transpire that I wouldn't wish on anyone. The story broke my heart because I am a mother and I cannot imagine any of these things happening.
Meanwhile, Maddie, the 3 year old is stuck in the middle being the cute little kid that she is. She is spoiled rotten, but I think Mrs Woodruff did a great job of portraying the 3 year old.
This book got some low rating, but like I said, I was entertained by it. Jettie Woodruff is an incredible writer so the book flowed and I read it easily in one day.
